After having to postpone twice, we are happy to announce that the international summer school Southeast Asia in Motion will take place in July 2022, hosted by Gadjah Mada University, in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

This summer school is a collaboration between universities in Switzerland, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Thailand. Groups will be formed with students from these different universities and together they will conduct ethnographic research focussing on the topic “After Covid? Work and Daily Life in Indonesia”. With this theme, we aim to explore the multitude of ways in which the pandemic has transformed and continues to affect the daily lives and work of people living in Yogyakarta.

The summer school is open to both BA an MA students. A prerequisite for attending the summer school is that you have completed your first year BA courses as well as the courses Doing Ethnography and the Regional Module Indonesia. This regional module will be offered again in FS22, so if you are interested in participating, make sure that you sign up for that course.

There will be an online information meeting on the 15th of December, from 12.30-13.30 in AND 5.03. If you want to participate online, send an email to molly.fitzpatrick@uzh.ch to receive the Zoom link.
