Short bio

Rehema Namaganda Bavuma is pursuing her PhD at Makerere University with the title “aging, disability and the use of assistive technologies in Uganda”. She is part of the research project “Disability and Technology”  that is a partnership between Makerere University and the University of Zurich.

Her work on ageing aims to reveal the experiences of ageing with and into a disability in an African setting and documents the day to day lifes of elderly people as they negotiate the meaning of their aging process, carrying out their activities of daily living and how they use or fail to use assistive technologies.

Previously Rehema did research in access to water among persons with mobility disabilities in Uganda.

She is currently teaching Luganda at the ISEK - Social and Cultural Anthropology.
