Researching Secular and Religious Identities in Tandem

One aim of the project is to intensify interaction and develop a long-term partnership between the ISEK-Ethnologie (Anthropology) of University of Zurich (UZH) and the Department of Anthropology at Jahangirnagar University (JU) in Bangladesh in the fields of anthropology of religion and identity politics. Further, we intend to stimulate discussions and joint exploratory research as well as the writing of a joint research proposal in the anthropology of religion and the state. The methodological objectives of the project are to initiate new ways of conducting research in the social sciences, in particularly to explore ways to initiate “team research” collaboration in Switzerland and Bangladesh and to stimulate discussions on assymetrical research structures.
