Reproductive mobilities in Argentina: global entanglements of stratified reproduction

Catalina Kranner

Catalina Kranner’s current PhD Project deals with the unique aspects of reproductive mobilities concerning Argentina, considering its legal landscape, cultural dynamics, and the experiences of both individuals seeking reproductive services and healthcare providers involved in this context. Research questions such as specific legal and cultural factors within Argentina that contribute to its status as a destination for reproductive mobilities; healthcare providers and fertility clinics that navigate the ethical considerations and legal frameworks surrounding reproductive mobilities, facing challenges and opportunities in providing services to both national and international clients; the perception of Argentina as technologically advanced in assisted reproductive technologies, coupled with the legal advances in reproductive rights, interplay between legal advancements and the availability of cutting-edge reproductive technologies influencing decision-making in choosing the country as a destination for fertility treatments; and manifestation of stratified reproduction in terms of access and experiences with ART within a reproductive migration context in Argentina, taking into account social factors such as class, gender, and other relevant socio-cultural determinants to shape the country development.
