Nolwenn Bühler is currently a doctoral student at the Department of Social Anthropology and Cultural Studies of the University of Zurich and a freelance associate member of the Institut d’Histoire de la Médecine et de la Santé Publique (IUHMSP) in Lausanne. She is also a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland (HETS) in Geneva (Fall Semester 2014) and at the Anthropology Institute of the University of Neuchâtel (Spring Semester 2015). Before that she has been a visiting researcher at the Gender and Women’s Studies Department of the University of California Berkeley (UCB) (2013-2014) and has worked three years in the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) project “Fertility and Family in Switzerland” (2011-2013). In her dissertation, she examine how meanings and definitions of reproductive aging are produced and enacted in the field of reproductive medicine and especially how the biology of age-related infertility is at stake in these processes. She is also interested in how ARTs such as egg donation and egg freezing enable to extend female fertility time and explore their potential to transform the “nature(s)” of reproductive aging.
